The wilderness wasn't dangerous but hospitable. They were free of fear and saw the wilderness for it's beauty. Indian faith looks for harmony of his surrondings. The white man looks for dominance of their surrondings.
The wilderness needs to be see for its beauty. The Natives understood this. They saw the Earth as a friend not a foe. The white man couldn't understand this. Rather, they decided to tear it down because they feared the unknown. If they had only taken the time to embrace the nature, perhaps they wouldn't have feared it.
