Tell the truth.
Being seen as an honest person is extremely important. It not only shows that we are upfront, but that we are worthy of trust. Lies, big and small, only create problems. It's better to say the truth then hide behind a wall of lies. As the old saying goes, "the truth will set you free," and I firmly believe that in saying the truth there is strength. Anyone can spout lies, but only those who acknowledge the truth and its power can step up and tell speak with honesty no matter the consequence.
